Adenia glauca is commonly called the "Elephant's Foot Plant" because of its bulbous, swollen base that is similar in appearance to an elephant's foot, resembles the real Elephant’s foot succulent that is . This swollen base is actually a caudex, which is a stem modification that allows the plant to store water and nutrients during times of drought. This elephant’s foot succulent can grow up to 10 feet tall and 3 feet wide with an erect woody trunk that's grayish-green in color.
